History
Gold Country Endurance Riders was started in 1980 in Auburn, California. The original 1981 Roster lists 38 members. We currently have over 100 members. Although the club is based in Auburn, California we have members from as far as Reno, Chico, Sacramento and beyond. Membership includes endurance riders, social riders and non-riders. The cohesiveness of this multi-interest group comes from a common love of horses, comradeship among members and a united desire to preserve and improve the sport of endurance riding and the trails that we all enjoy and use.
Toward this end, along with monthly meeting, many activities are planned. The club provides an information booth at the AERC Convention in Reno every year and also donates to the convention auction. Gold Country members will again enjoy the annual spring, summer and fall camp-outs and many social rides that are sprinklered throughout the year. Annually GCER puts on the Gold Country 30 and 50 mile Endurance Ride.
Other activities include helping with the Western States Run and the Western States (Tevis)100 mile Ride. Gold Country members also spend several days a year working on building and /or repairing trails, setting water tanks, creating staging areas, etc.
Gold Country Endurance Riders are never idle...
