GCER Meeting Minutes August 19,2008

The meeting was called to order at 7pm by Potato Richardson, President. We had a nice room at Marie Callender's , a smart, sassy waitress, good food and everyone seemed happy with our new location. There were 12 members present. Potato had a surprise for us, a bag of ride ribbons pulled by Sharon Campbell, and her daughter from the trail near Dru Barner. The ribbons were from our ride that was cancelled due to fire activity.

The minutes were read, two dates corrected , and approved.

Dianne Dalton reported that we have $3.451.83 in our checking account. Our expenses were $420.00 for our ride food, $10 for ride water, and $42 for our PO Box.

She asked that we mention the names of the donors for the belt buckles and blanket as the donations were very generous. They are:

Judy Carnazzo
George Goodale
Randi Hackbarth
Mike and Kristi Hartman
Bill and Diane Johnson
Jim and Sherryl Holbrook
Pete and Karin Occhialini
Nelson and Jill Pass
Michael Rapposelli
Art and Allison Spackman
Sierra Sunrise Inc.

Thank you all for your donations.

Old business:

1. Karin Occhialini has 12 tri tips in her freezer, marinated and ready for the BBQ. Please call her at 333-1647 if you are interested in purchasing any.

2. Insurance: Joe Larkin did a preliminary investigation regarding insurance. He found that we can have seven events for about $500 per year. A really good discussion was held regarding club rides. Issues were varied and included, horse safety, horse owner relationships. Cliques, and rider expectations. There were suggestions of functions we could have, reasons why our membership participation was lacking, and ways to increase active membership. Joe will bring more information to our next meeting regarding insurance.

3. Follow up plan of action for left over supplies from our ride. Karin will check on the price for the tri tip. Allison will check on the price and expiration dates of the condiments.

New business:

1. Dianne Dalton suggested we update our roster and make it available to all members. She volunteered to do this for the club. Thank you Dianne.

2. Dianne also mentioned there is a fundraiser ride for trails in the Oakland Hills area. It is from August 26th to September 1st. It is a catered ride with entertainment, and involves moving your rig three times. Karin Occhialine,Vicki Hoffman, Becky Santucci, and Dianne Dalton are going to participate. Good luck Ladies.

3. There is celebration of a new wine release at a vineyard in Petaluma. On Septembe 6th. The owners are new endurance riders who held a mini Tevis ride, when Tevis was cancelled. Call or email Potato if you are interested.

4. An open invitation to all for a ride to celebrate Cindy Larkin's birthday at Pt. Reyes, Stewart Horse Camp, Oct 15th. Make your own reservations and plan for a Potluck one evening, probably Friday. Everyone welcome, this is not a club function.

5. Virginia City 100 is September 20th. Dianne Dalton is participating in this ride. Good Luck Dianne.

6. Jon Saunders reported that Pam and Doyle Bailie were in the top ten at the High Sierra Classic ride August 9th. Congratulations to riders and horses.

7. Linda Gigliotti mentioned there is a men's trail ride on the first Sunday of each month Call her for information. 530-887-8101.

8. Doyle brought up the subject of club jackets, shirts, or vests with a Logo. We do have a great club Logo. A discussion was held and everyone agreed they would be interested in new items with our Logo. Doyle will check on prices, and Dianne will find the template for our Logo.
