Minutes for GCER,     September 15,2009

The meeting was called to order by Vice President Joe Larkin at 7:05. There were 10 members present and
one guest, April Reed, the sister of Jon Saunders.

The minutes were read and approved with a motion by Dianne Dalton and a second by Linda Gillotti.

Dianne Dalton gave the treasurers report. We have $7,476.65 in our checking account. We have one returned
local check and Dianne will notify the rider and re submit it. Donna Williams has a bill for ride expenses.

There is one letter of correspondence from Back Country Horsemen asking for our membership. We will ponder
this issue and decide at the next meeting.

Old business

1. The inventory of equipment was completed by Joe Larkin. We still need the number of lights and Britt's banners
are still missing.

2. Euer Valley Campout.
A few adventures and mishaps. We had 18 campers from Ca. and Nev. The Ball's forgot Larry's saddle, a lighter for the stove,
and misplaced their coffeepot for awhile. The bathrooms were edgy, with one missing a seat. The lodge pole camp area was
vastly improved from years past. The cattle came thru camp at 1am Monday morning looking for leftovers only to find us still in camp.
They helped themselves to any hay left unattended and wandered about mooing to one another for about two hours, then moved on;
including the one with a white plastic chair on her head. Cherryl led two rides, Sat. and Sun. on the red loop up to Castle peak and
.around on the Donner rim trail back to camp. Beautiful vistas everywhere. We had a delicious potluck, and a music fest around the
campfire minus the fire, led by Cherryl Holbrook. The trails were well marked and great rides for everyone except for Joe larkin, who
was on "the horse that wouldn't go". The Dalton's arrived late and after dark Friday with an excuse involving Tequilla. All in all, It was
a big success and everyone voted to do it again next year.

3. Dianne will check on the vests again and send out an email to the club.

4. The AERC National Championships were held in Greenville, Ca. September 12 and 13. Dianne Dalton competed and
gave a report on the 50 mile ride. She finished 16th. She stated it was very fast and quite rocky. Becky and Mark Engeman completed
the ride and Ken Keel finished 2nd and got the win as the first horse did not pulse down. His winning time was four hours and 3 min.

5. Our next campout is at Stewart Ranch October 16-18th. You must make your own reservations. The number is 415-663-1362.
There are no dogs allowed. The cost is $15 for one horse and rider. There will be a potluck Saturday night. For those who do not ride
there is golf, mountainbiking, and fishing.

New business

1. We have our AERC sanction for next years gold country ride. The date is July 10, 2010. Our head vet will be Bob Morgan.

2. Donna Williams gave an update on trail issues. There have been several successful meetings regarding trail problems and
safety issues with a group of trail advocates and state park rangers. Cards were handed out with information on how to respond and numbers
to call if a problem occurs. There will be a meeting on October 8, 2009 in Sacramento to discuss the general plan for Auburn State Recreation
Area. A group from ACE {Action Coalition for Equestrians} are reading the plan as it is very lengthy and complicated. 95% of our trails are
on public land so we need to be aware and informed.

Our next meeting will be our last for this year. It will be held at Marie Callender's on Nov. 20 . We will have the election of officers
for next year.

It was moved by Jim Holbrook and seconded by Jon Saunders to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned by Joe larkin at 8:05

Respectfully submitted, Judy Carnazzo, Secretary
