2014 April Minutes
GCER Meeting Minutes April 15, 2014
Location: Joe Caribe’s Restaurant
The meeting was called to order by President Becky Santucci at 1900. There were 20 members present and two guests, Peggy Smythe and Jeree Schaeffer.
Cindy Larkin reported we have $3077.06 in our account.
The minutes were read and approved.
Rides:
Nevada Derby 50 mi. was completed both days by Dale Scoville, and he did not get lost ! He finished 13th on the first day and 2nd on the 2nd day. Roger and Linda completed the LD, 25 miles both days 2nd and 3rd the first day and 1st and 2nd the 2nd day. Congratulations to all.
New Business:
Our May 20 meeting will be held at the Black Bear Restaurant, off Forest Hill Turnoff, formerly known as “Bakers Square” Dinner at 6, meeting at 7. June 17 , our meeting will be at the Larkins. Everyone needs to attend this meeting as we will be making final plans for our “Gold Country ride”. On July 15th we will again meet at Joe Caribe’s. Dinner at 6, meeting at 7. Please attend this meeting for last details before our ride.
Trail work days: Per Cindy, Joe, and Karin
May 5th Meet at Mar Val at 9 am to help clear trail on the Dru Barner side, special work on Motorcycle Hill and the two loops.
May 17th 9 am, Workers needed at Dru Barner. Seasonal clean up for the EDETF fun ride, the Ride and Tie and Gold Country ride. Karin requested a few people going to the Balderson side to clear trail. Please come help if you can.
Cindy also stated Americore trail workers are clearing Western states trail. You can sign up to help at the WSTF web site.
Jim Holbrook announced he has tickets for the Auburn Rotary Monte Carlo night May 10th.
Club campouts:
Cherryl announced 2014 jack Brooks June 4-8th…..2015 jack Brooks dates are June 24- 28.

Guest Speaker, Jeree Schaeffer from the mule club “Elegant Ears” gave a very informative presentation about his organization. They are responsible for building the Telles creek campground. He talked about the grants they have gotten and a new campground on Caples Creek they are developing with the grant money and donations. It is a dry camp and will be open June 1st on a first come 1st serve basis. There is no fee. It is located up highway 50, 9 miles past Kyburz.
WANAC catered camping dates are:
- May 14-18 Pt Reyes
- August 13-18 Cuneo Creek
- September 10-14Stone Cellar
