2015 March Minutes

GCER Meeting Minutes March 17, 2015

The first meeting of the year was called to order by President Potato Richardson at 1900. There were 18 members present and two guests. Nyla and Leon Shoenhair, who became members. They are the proud owners of 4 mustangs. They volunteered at Chicken Hawk vet check for Tevis last year. They are eager to learn more about the sport of Endurance. Welcome Nyla and Leon.

Potato announced that Terryl Reed is unable to fulfill her duties as treasurer, and asked to step down. We cannot operate our club without a treasurer. If anyone is interested please contact Potato.

The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer report was unavailable.

Old Business:

An idea for Club shirts, jackets, and mugs was to be to be reported on by Andrew Gerhard who was absent. Terryl will contact him and hopefully he will have a report for our April meeting.

An awards co-ordinate is needed for our ride awards. Daanan will take care of the buckles because they need to be ordered right away. Meanwhile we still need someone to take over that responsibility.

New Business:

  1. Potato asked for a motion to hold a meeting with Jon Saunders and Lexie Plate to work on improvements of our web site . Cindy Larkin so moved and motion seconded by Trina.
  2. Gold Country Ride Report: Ride manager Pam Bailie was absent. Ride news was reported by Daanan Stamper.
    1. Forest service permit is almost approved, waiting for emergency plan. The ride has been sanctioned by AERC.
    2. Potato asked if our ride could have a division for Shagya Horses that would be sponsored by the Shagya organization. This issue will be continued at our next meeting. More information is needed, and our ride manager will be present. Potato stated there would be no impact on our club if this is allowed.
    3. Cindy Larkin suggested we keep the route for the 25 milers to the “Darling Ridge” side as she feels the “Airport loop” is quite difficult for LD. Everyone agreed this was a good idea.
  3. Marcie announced she and Rachell {president}are selling tickets for the ” Rigatoni Dinner” to benefit “Horses for Healing”. It is this Saturday March 21, at the Gold country Fairgrounds. A blue Grass Band, Silent auction, and Desert auction are part of the evening. There is also a Legacy scholarship donation in honor of Judy Gerhardt who started this program in 1987. Thank you Marcie, and Rachelle, for your hard work.

A motion was made by Jim Holbrook, and seconded by Daanan to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 1950 by Potato.
